Topic: Care Labels

Notes

A Care label is a tag that is permanently attached to textile articles. It gives instructions on how to care the article or item.



·        Wash tub- gives washing instructions.

·        Triangle- gives instructions on bleaching.

·        Square-gives drying instructions.

·        Iron- gives ironing instructions.

·        Circle- gives dry cleaning instructions.

 

Assignment: Draw and label all the care symbols that fall under each category mentioned above.

1. Draw and label the diagram of a leaf.



2. State the function of the parts of the leaf.

3. Explain what is transpiration pull and transpiration stream

EXPERIMENT TO SEE IF WATER IS LOST BY LEAVES (see figure 4.13 below)

v Find two leafy twigs growing on a tree.

v Remove the leaves from one, but leave all the leaves on the other

v Tie a transparent, (see through), plastic bag on to each twig as seen below.
             
     
v Leave for an hour, then see if any changes happen.

v Record what you saw and what you found out.

Textiles, Clothing and Fashion Form 2


Activities for the period Monday June 15th to Friday June 19th 2020


Instructions:
·       Continuing to work on your scrapbook, this week you will look at a video sent by your teacher and create a sample of the Running stitch, label and mount in your scrapbook and send a picture of your work to your teacher.

·       When school reopens physically, you are required to hand in your scrapbook.

This weeks’ video is on the Running Stitch





Tools needed:

1 needle
Thread
Scrap fabric 6”x 6” (eg. an old shirt)
