1. Look at the video below then answer the questions that follow:

2. Define the term osmosis.

3. What is a semi permeable membrane?

4. Why is osmosis important?

EXPERIMENT TO OBSERVE OSMOSIS

v Peel and cut potato in 8 even pieces (as much as possible).

v Fill two containers with equal amounts of water.

v Add salt or sugar to one container. Stir until dissolved.

v Place 4 pieces of potato in each container as seen below

v Observe the process and record what happens

WEEK: 15^th – 19^th June, 2020

1. Draw and label the diagram of a leaf.

2. State the function of the parts of the leaf.

3. Explain what is transpiration pull and transpiration stream

EXPERIMENT TO SEE IF WATER IS LOST BY LEAVES (see figure 4.13 below)

v Find two leafy twigs growing on a tree.

v Remove the leaves from one, but leave all the leaves on the other

v Tie a transparent, (see through), plastic bag on to each twig as seen below.

             

     

v Leave for an hour, then see if any changes happen.

v Record what you saw and what you found out.
